Wendy Hill, a classroom teacher in the Peel District School Board for 30 years, is the developer and owner of The Learning Carpet-TLC, Inc. She started using the 100 square floor grid in her classrooms with children in grades JK-6. After doing a workshop for her Family of Schools, interest in this concept grew. She formed her company about 15 years ago, as she was asked to do more and more workshops and teachers wanted the manipulatives that she had developed.
After taking early retirement, Wendy has presented hundreds of workshops and has in-serviced more than 15,000 teachers from a variety of school districts throughout Canada. These include Public, Catholic, Christian and Private schools, as well as several Faculties of Education (Toronto, York, Queen’s and Manitoba). She has presented her 2 hour plus workshop from Victoria to Halifax and most major cities in between. Wendy has also done “lead” teacher training for many school districts (Toronto Public, Peel, Halton, Dufferin-Peel, Ottawa Public and Catholic, Algoma, Huron Superior, York and Peterborough Catholic).
There are over 9,500 Learning Carpets-TLC being used in almost all Canadian provinces, as well as in St. Lucia, Trinidad, Syria, France, California, India, Vietnam and China.
